Councilman James "Jimmy" Bertino

James “Jimmy” Bertino is a life long Hammontonian. He graduated Hammonton High School in 1974 and the Sylvania Technical School in 1975. He and his wife Hope, have three children, Jackie, Jimmy Jr., and Michelle.

He has been employed for 31 years at Garden State Color Corporation, and is currently its President. His hard work in the company was instrumental in its recognition by the Hammonton Chamber of Commerce as Business of the Year in 2003.

Jimmy has been active in our Town for many years. In 2000 he was honored by receiving the American Hometown Leadership Award. He is currently a member of the NJ Farm Bureau. He is on the Board of Trustees of the Oak Grove Cemetery Association, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Hammonton Recreation Club, Inc. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Jimmy was first elected to Hammonton’s Town Council in 1996. Since then, he has taken a leadership role in Town government. He has served as Deputy Mayor, Chairperson of the Water & Sewer Committee, the Highway Department Committee, Law & Order Committee, Administrative Committee, Master Plan Committee, Shade Tree Committee, MUAC, Rent Control, Parks & Recreation Committee, Business & Industry Committee, the Education Committee. He was the Town’s representative to the Main Street organization, and the Planning Board. Jimmy spearheaded the change in Zoning to protect our rural areas from developers who want to promote suburban sprawl. Jimmy has developed an expertise in the Water and Sewer Departments, and is responsible for expanding our utilities to promote Commercial Development in Town. Jim is currently Chairperson of the Education Committee, and the Co-chairman of the Public Works Committee and Public Works and Transportation Committee.

Jim pledges to keep up his hard work on Council for the betterment of all the residents of Hammonton.
